When I think I have this whole mom thing figured out.. BAM, my little one decides to stay up for 3 hours in the middle of the night. Something you would expect from a new born, or maybe a sick child. But, he didn't act sick. And the whole reason he woke up was because he had pooped... Which doesn't ever happen at midnight. He is like a clock when it comes to this, ahem time, which is precisely right after breakfast and a little later in the morning. So then I thought maybe he is sick. So I snuggled and rocked and read and read and read to him. And Mike snuggled and rocked and rocked and rocked him. I gave him some milk and even some bread, thinking he might be hungry. Then, I mistakenly let him down to play for a minute which was about 1:30 a.m. now and he wanted to play. Running up and down the hallway into the living room and back into his bedroom. I think he thought it was so neat that it was dark and made it that much more interesting to play. So we did this for another hour and a half until 3 a.m. when he finally crashed in our bed! So weird and unusual for someone who sleeps so well at night and has since he was new born!
So what do you do when your toddler is up in the middle of the night and won't go back to sleep? Any ideas or suggestions? In case this ever happens again, which I am sure it will!

Oh Holly! That is so funny, only because that is what Preston did last night (not for three hours, but for about 1 1/2)...maybe Brixton and Preston have some sort of connection..they know when the other is up :0)
I am SOOOO sorry that he did that. If it happens again, at least you have blogging to do while he plays :0)
After having four kids--I just make sure all the doors are securely locked, turn off most of the lights, turn on a cartoon and go to bed. Then find them on the floor somewhere the next morning. Good luck!
Wow, i totally have nothing for you (can you imagine that?!?!) I got a jittery feeling when I read your first few words...thinking you were announcing something...like baby #2. Good luck.
Yeah sorry about that! At least it has only happened once. Anya slept great the first 4 months of her life, but the last 4 months I have to get up at least 3 times a night with her to feed her, rock her, talk to her, put her binky back in ect. So, as you can plainly see, I am not the person to ask about this subject because I have still not figured out how to get her to sleep through the night in the first place!!!!! So maybe you can help me?!! Sorry!!
hey girl... not sure you remember me but i'm friends with meagan and went to the BC with you... anyway kalista went through a phase like that and then about two weeks later all four of her molars cut through.. when they are teething they can have different BM's i noticed that with kali as she too was like clock work and then was having them at weird times. I remember there were a few nights I just left her in her crib and turned on the TV for her.. we have a TV in there for some reason and it never gets use except when she wakes at 2am and won't sleep. maybe give him some tylonal before bedtime if you notice he's teething... Good Luck it stinks to be up all night
Wow, Sorry I wish I had some advise for you. I am going through the same thing with Braydon. He slept like 10 hours a night from four months till he was eight months, then suddenly he stopped. He would wake up in the middle of the night screaming, and nothing would calm him down. He would be up for 1-2 hours. I finally came to conclude that he was teething, but since he has not been teething his schedule is still nothing like it was before he started. I am so sorry. I hope you can figure it out. GOOD LUCK!
oh funny.... kids will be kids :) this is Kristie Grisham (taylor) how are you girl? Do you mind if i add you to my friends list?
